DXB Cucumber Carnival Returns this October!

Hendrick’s are coming back this year to present an elevated and unusual experience in the form of DXB Cucumber Carnival at Soho Garden on 17 -18 October 2019.

DXB Cucumber Carnival is an action-packed, festival-style weekend packed with performances, tastings, workshops and shows happening in tandem, all weekend.

What’s Happening?

On Thursday October 17th, the DXB Cucumber Carnival begins & throughout the weekend you can enjoy a veritable concoction of diverse performances from international acts such as The Electric Swing Circus; plus marvel at pickpocket and magic shows, participate in tarot readings and various interactive, roaming acts including physical comedy.

You can also take part in high-level sporting feats involving hobby horse polo, cucumber croquet and Vintage Olympics including tug of war, rose and spoon race, three-legged race and Cucumber Cup Horse Race.

The Electric Swing Circus

Tuck into The Feast – 7:30-9:30pm – with friends and tickle your taste buds with a medley of epicurean delights in a banquet style set-up consisting of Hendrick’s inspired dishes, such as a Hendrick’s Gin and tonic cured salmon, grilled New Zealand lamb chops and pan roasted chicken breast with truffle mash potato.  Whet your whistle with free-flow of juniper infused libations presented by a world class mixologist.

Friday 18th October green-fingered fans across Dubai will unite to enjoy a quintessential High-Tea – served 3-5pm. You’ll feast on a collection of mini sandwiches and an array of sweet treats such as Hendrick’s citrus and pink peppercorn eclairs and Hendrick’s poached strawberry tartlets all hosted by our Victorian style characters Henrietta and Archibald, who’ll regale you with tales of times gone by whilst filling your teacup with Hendrick’s Gin and Tonic.

The Fun & Frolic

Tap your feet and move late into the night to an extensive line up of quirky international acts such as The Electric Swing Circus, Jaye and Foe, The After Hours Quintet, C@ in the H@, and more throughout the weekend.

The Electric Swing Circus is a 6-piece fusion of classy 20s swing and stomping electro beats with an explosive sound that reverberates back through time with an exciting combination of vintage, gypsy jazz, electric double bass, keys and live drums.

Taking Dubai by storm, neo swing act Jaye and Foe tap into unexplored musical territory with their brassy meets jazz tinged folk, with elements of reggae, ska and gypsy rhythms.

They’re inspired by the absurd, outraged by the mundane and are sure to start a party in your heart and blast you into the peculiar Hendrick’s brassmosphere.

The After Hours Quintet will be conjuring sounds and techniques from a forgotten era with an irresistible sense of ease and exuberance to scorch the audience with their hot jazz during DXB Cucumber Carnival with turntablism and style from well-respected producer and DJ C@ in the H@.
